Can I have multiple domains on the same hosting account?

24 0 0

The short answer is YES, you can have multiple domains on a single hosting account, but this directly depends on the resources and limitations of the hosting package you have chosen.

1. How does multi-hosting work?

In the control panel (cPanel or DirectAdmin), add-on domains are called Addon Domains. They allow you to have completely different websites (eg: magazinulmeu.ro and blogulmeu.ro), each with its own files, databases and email addresses, but sharing the same storage, RAM and processor (CPU) resources.

2. Check your package limits

At TicketHelp, we offer packages tailored to your needs:

  • Basic Packages (Start): Typically allow only one primary domain. They are ideal for a single online project.

  • Premium/Business Packages: Allow hosting 2, 5 or even an unlimited number of added domains (Addon Domains).

  • Reseller Packages: They are specially designed to manage dozens of domains, each in its own separate account.

3. Advantages of hosting multiple domains in one account

  • Reduced costs: You pay one monthly subscription instead of several separate bills.

  • Easy administration: Manage all files and databases from a single control panel.

  • Emails Included: You can create email addresses for all added domains within the limit of the total available space.

4. Risks and disadvantages

While it's tempting to put all your sites in one place, there are a few things to keep in mind:

  • Resource sharing: If one site suddenly becomes very popular and consumes all the CPU, the other sites in the account will slow down or may be temporarily suspended.

  • Security: If a site is vulnerable and compromised (hacked), there is a risk that the attacker can access the files of all domains in that account.

  • Performance: Multiple sites on the same account means storage will be consumed much faster.

5. How can you add a new domain?

If your package allows it, the process is simple:

  1. Log in to cPanel/DirectAdmin.

  2. Look for the "Addon Domains" or "Domains" section.

  3. Enter the name of the new domain and the folder where you want its files to be stored.

  4. Make sure the domain has TicketHelp Nameservers set.
