How long does it take to activate a domain after payment?

24 0 0

After you've completed your order and paid, it's natural to want your domain up and running as quickly as possible. Although the registration process is largely automated, there are a few factors that influence when you can actually start using the domain.

1. Payment confirmation

Activation starts only when your payment is confirmed in the TicketHelp system:

  • Card Payment: Confirmation is instant and the registration order is sent to the registry immediately.

  • Bank Transfer: May take between 24 and 48 business hours (depends on bank processing). Activation will be done manually or automatically after the account statement confirms the transaction.

2. The recording itself

Once payment confirmed:

  • .ro domains: Registration is done almost instantly in the ROTLD database.

  • International Domains (.com, .net, etc.): Registration is also quick, but requires an additional step: email verification. You will receive a message from the registrar that you must confirm within 15 days, otherwise the domain will be suspended.

3. Technical activation (Propagation)

This is where confusion often arises. Even if the domain appears as "Active" in your customer account, it will not work immediately in the browser due to DNS propagation:

  • Waiting time: Between 2 and 24 hours (in rare cases, up to 48h).

  • What happens: Internet servers around the world need to know your new domain address. Until this update reaches your Internet Service Provider (ISP), you will see a "Server not found" error.

4. Possible statuses in the TicketHelp

account
  • Pending: The payment has not yet been processed or the domain is awaiting manual validation.

  • Active: The domain has been officially registered and is your property.

  • Expired: The domain was not renewed in time.

5. What can you do if the domain is not working after 24 hours?

If more than 24 hours have passed since payment confirmation and the site is not loading:

  1. Check email: Make sure you haven't received a data validation request (for gTLD domains).

  2. Check Nameservers: Make sure the domain is pointing to the correct hosting servers.

  3. Empty Cache: Sometimes your browser retains old information. Try to access the domain from another device (eg from your phone, using mobile data).
