Who is the legal owner of the domain?

24 0 0

When registering a domain name through TicketHelp, it is essential to understand who owns the domain name. The holder (or Registrant) is the natural or legal person in whose name the registration was made.

1. Owner identification

The legal owner is the entity whose data (name, address, email, phone) is entered in the "Registrant" field at the time of purchase.

  • If you register the domain as an individual, you are the owner.

  • If you are registering a company, the legal entity is the legal owner.

2. Why is this aspect important?

The holder has full and exclusive control over the domain. Only he has the right to:

  • Transfer domain to another registrar.

  • Change contact data or nameservers.

  • Sell or assign the right to use the domain.

  • Extend or let the domain expire.

3. TicketHelp (Registrar) role

TicketHelp acts as an accredited intermediary (Registrar) between you and the central registry (such as ROTLD for .ro or ICANN for .com). We do not own your domain; our role is to handle technical administration and billing on your behalf.

4. Where can you check the owner's data?

You can always check who appears as the owner using the WHOIS service.

  • For domains .ro: Check on the official website rotld.ro.

  • For international domains: Databases like whois.com are used.

  • Note: Due to GDPR regulations, natural person data is often hidden from the public, but remains officially registered in the management system.

5. Security recommendations

  • Use a valid email address: Make sure the owner's email is one you have permanent access to. All transfer or security confirmations will be sent there.

  • Update data: If the company changes its headquarters or name, it is important to update the data at domain level as well.
