What does transferring a domain mean?

24 0 0

The transfer of a domain is the process by which the management and billing of a domain name is moved from one provider (registrar) to another. At the end of this process, TicketHelp will become your new partner for managing that domain.

1. How does the transfer work?

Transfer is not an instant move, but a secure process involving approval from both parties. It is based on a security code (EPP/Auth-Code) that only the domain owner has.

2. Essential conditions for a successful transfer

Before starting the process, make sure your domain meets the following criteria:

  • Age: The domain must be at least 60 days since registration or last transfer (valid for international extensions such as .com, .net, .org).

  • Unlocked Status: The domain must be in "Active" or "OK" status (not blocked/Locked at the old provider).

  • Valid EPP Code: You must have the correct authorization key.

  • Access to E-mail: You must have access to the e-mail address of the holder (Whois), because that is where you will receive the confirmation request.

3. What happens to the validity period?

  • International Domains (.com, .net, etc.): At the time of transfer, the domain is automatically extended for another year. The transfer fee actually includes the cost of this extension.

  • National Domains (.ro): Administration transfer does not always involve the extension of validity (it depends on the policy of the registry at the time), but only the transfer of invoice management to us.

4. Transfer steps to TicketHelp

  1. Get the EPP code from your current provider.

  2. Start the order on our website in the "Domain Transfer" section.

  3. Pay the transfer invoice.

  4. Confirm the authorization email you will receive (for certain extensions).

  5. Wait for completion: The process can take between a few hours (for .ro) and 5-7 days (for international extensions).
