MySQL and phpMyAdmin Database Management

24 0 0

The database is the "heart" of your website (WordPress, Joomla, Magento). This is where texts, settings, user accounts and products are stored. At TicketHelp, we provide full access to MySQL for efficient administration.

1. Creating a new Database

To install a site manually, you must first prepare the storage media.

  • In cPanel:

    1. Go to the section Databases -> MySQL Database Wizard.

    2. Step 1: Enter the database name.

    3. Step 2: Create a secure username and password.

    4. Step 3: Check All Privileges to allow the user to modify the database.

  • In DirectAdmin:

    1. Go to MySQL Management.

    2. Click Create New Database.

    3. Enter the data and press Create. The system will show you the summary (Host, User, Password) - keep them!

2. Administration via phpMyAdmin

phpMyAdmin is the graphical tool through which you can view and edit the tables in the database without knowing SQL code.

  • Importing a database (Migration):

    1. Select the database from the list on the left.

    2. Press the Import tab.

    3. Choose the .sql file on your computer.

    4. Press Go at the bottom of the page.

  • Export for Backup:

    1. Select the database.

    2. Press the Export tab.

    3. Choose "Quick" method and "SQL" format, then press Go. The file will download automatically.

3. Database Repair and Optimization

If the site shows the error "Error establishing a database connection", follow these steps:

  1. Check connection: Make sure that the data in the config file (ex: wp-config.php) coincides with those created in the control panel.

  2. Repair Database: In MySQL Management (cPanel/DirectAdmin), you have the option to check the database and select Repair. This process repairs corrupt tables due to server crashes or write errors.

  3. Optimize: Eliminate overhead and speed up site queries.

4. MySQL Remote Access

If you want to connect external software (like MySQL Workbench) to the database on our server:

  1. You need to add your IP in the Remote MySQL section.

  2. Server host will be the host server IP or domain name.
